Unveiling a Unique Steam Demo: Guiding a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have discovered a variety of interesting creations from small studios. However, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game includes a character that is literally a turd striving to travel to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is simple: just use a single jump button. In one hundred fifty challenges, encounter tough enemies and access a store to buy skins for your dung hero.

Execute your movements with caution, since one mistake requires restarting the level. Leap using floating orbs to launch your character upward, traverse fragile platforms, and touch switches to unlock new areas. Earn currency for buying challenging levels in which the action intensifies.

In terms of design, the demo boasts vibrant level designs and catchy music score. Its minimalist graphics of morphing abstract forms may remind players of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though tough to name similar titles where you control a dung character, interactive entertainment have long included fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, you can craft grenades from character excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as soil enrichment. Naturally, such content is present extensively in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous concept, Unko Technica has already earned notable accolades, such as winning at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is available currently on Steam, with the final release set to arrive on PC this November.
